# Shelfd Terms of Service Welcome to **Shelfd**. These Terms of Service ("Terms") explain the rules for using the Shelfd app, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing, downloading, installing, or using Shelfd, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use Shelfd. These Terms apply to all users worldwide, regardless of country, state, province, or territory of residence. Where local law grants you additional non-waivable rights, those rights continue to apply. --- ## 1. What Shelfd Is Shelfd is a media tracking and social app that lets users track movies, TV shows, anime, manga, books, video games, and music. Users can rate titles, log episode and chapter progress, build watchlists and tier lists, write reviews, comment on titles, send direct messages, add friends, and view a social activity feed. Shelfd is an independent project. Shelfd is not affiliated with Apple, Google, Firebase, Cloudflare, IMDb, Letterboxd, MyAnimeList, AniList, TMDB, RAWG, Trakt, IGDB, Deezer, Spotify, Apple Music, Steam, or any other third-party service unless clearly stated. --- ## 2. Eligibility You must be at least 13 years old to use Shelfd. In some jurisdictions the minimum age may be higher (for example, 14 in Spain, 15 in Czechia and France, 16 in Germany and other parts of the European Economic Area). You must meet the minimum age required by your local law. If you are under 18 (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction), you may use Shelfd only with permission from a parent or legal guardian. Shelfd is not intended for children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child below the applicable minimum age, we may delete the account and related information. --- ## 3. Accounts and Login To use Shelfd, you may need to create an account using email and password, Sign in with Apple, or Sign in with Google. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account. You may not impersonate another person, create fake or duplicate accounts to abuse the Service, share your account with others, or use another person's account without permission. We may suspend, restrict, or delete accounts that violate these Terms, abuse the Service, harm other users, or create legal, security, or operational risk. --- ## 4. Account Deletion You may delete your Shelfd account at any time directly inside the app: **Profile → Settings → Account → Delete Account** Deletion is one tap and does not require contacting support or providing additional information. When you delete your account, your Shelfd profile document, ratings, reviews, lists, comments, messages, and related personal data are removed from our active systems. Some information may remain where legally allowed or technically necessary, including encrypted backups, security logs, moderation records, legal records, and content that other users have already received or interacted with (for example, a direct message you sent to another user remains in their inbox). User Content Shelfd lets you create, save, upload, and share content, including ratings, reviews, comments, lists, tier lists, direct messages, profile names, profile photos, bios, media progress, social links, favorites, showcases, and other user activity. You retain ownership of the content you create. By using Shelfd, you grant Shelfd a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, reproduce, process, transmit, modify (for technical formatting, resizing, or moderation), and use your content solely as needed to operate, improve, moderate, protect, and provide the Service. You are solely responsible for the content you post or share. You represent that you have all rights necessary to share that content and that your content does not violate any law or any third party's rights. --- ## 6. Public, Friend, and Social Features Shelfd is built around social media tracking. Depending on your settings and the feature used, other users may be able to see your display name, profile picture, bio, lists, ratings, reviews, comments, watch/play/read progress, profile showcase, favorites, friend activity, and other public profile information. Some features may be private, restricted, or visible only to approved friends. However, no online privacy setting is perfect. Do not post or share anything that you would not want others to see. --- ## 7. Direct Messages Shelfd includes direct messages and message requests between users. Messages are end-to-end visible only to the sender and recipient, but they are stored on our servers so the messaging feature can function across devices. Shelfd may review, restrict, or remove messages when necessary for safety, abuse prevention, moderation, legal compliance, or technical support. Do not use messages to send harassment, spam, illegal content, threats, sensitive personal information, sexually explicit material involving minors, or harmful material. --- ## 8. User-Generated Content, Reporting, and Blocking Shelfd takes safety seriously. We provide several mechanisms for users to manage objectionable or abusive content: **Report / Flag Content.** You can report objectionable content (spam, offensive content, harassment, or other concerns) directly inside the app from the three-dot menu on direct message threads and on full-page reviews. **Block User.** You can block any user from their profile or from your direct message overflow menu. Blocked users are immediately removed from your activity feed and cannot send you messages. **Zero Tolerance.** Shelfd has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behavior. We review reports within 24 hours and act on confirmed violations by removing content and, where appropriate, suspending or removing the responsible user. We may also remove content or restrict accounts independently of user reports when content violates these Terms or applicable law. --- ## 9. Acceptable Use You may not use Shelfd to: - Harass, threaten, abuse, stalk, dox, or impersonate others - Post hateful, violent, sexually explicit, illegal, or otherwise harmful content - Post or share sexually explicit material involving minors (CSAM), which will be reported to authorities - Spam users or manipulate ratings, reviews, comments, activity, or social features - Upload malware, malicious code, or harmful files - Scrape, copy, overload, attack, reverse-engineer, decompile, or interfere with Shelfd - Violate another person's privacy, publicity, copyright, trademark, or other rights - Use Shelfd for fraud, illegal activity, or security abuse - Attempt to bypass privacy settings, blocks, restrictions, authentication, or moderation systems - Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to access or interact with Shelfd without permission We may remove content, restrict features, or suspend or delete accounts that violate these rules. --- ## 10. Third-Party Content, Links, and APIs Shelfd displays third-party media information, posters, covers, ratings, descriptions, links, images, logos, metadata, trailers, and other content from services such as TMDB, RAWG, IGDB, Trakt, Deezer, OMDb, AniList, and similar providers. Third-party content belongs to its respective owners. Shelfd does not claim ownership of movie posters, TV posters, anime images, game covers, album artwork, book covers, trademarks, logos, titles, metadata, or external ratings unless clearly stated. Third-party services may change, limit, remove, or block data at any time. Shelfd is not responsible for inaccurate metadata, unavailable posters, broken links, incorrect ratings, API outages, or missing third-party content. --- ## 11. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions Shelfd is currently free. There are no paid features, subscriptions, or In-App Purchases at this time. Shelfd plans to introduce an optional **Shelfd Pro** tier in the future, which will provide advanced stats and analytics (such as most-watched genres, listening recaps, yearly retrospectives, and detailed media insights). Pro is not currently available and is not for sale. When Pro becomes available, it will be sold exclusively through Apple In-App Purchase (on iOS) at a planned price between $3.99 and $4.99 per month with a yearly subscription option, subject to Apple's payment terms, refund policy, and platform rules. Pricing may vary based on region and currency conversion. All current features in Shelfd are fully available to all users at no cost. --- ## 12. Intellectual Property Shelfd's original design, branding, logo, code, layout, features, interface, written content, and app structure belong to Shelfd or its creator. You may not copy, clone, resell, redistribute, or create a competing version of Shelfd using Shelfd's code, design, branding, or original features without permission. --- ## 13. Copyright and Intellectual Property Complaints If you believe content on Shelfd infringes your copyright or other intellectual property rights, contact: **Shelfd@proton.me** Include enough information for us to identify the content, verify your ownership or authority to act on the rights-holder's behalf, and contact you. For users in the United States, this address serves as our designated point of contact for DMCA notices. --- ## 14. Service Availability Shelfd is provided "as-is" and "as-available." The Service may contain bugs, downtime, missing features, broken links, incorrect data, or temporary interruptions. Features may be changed, added, limited, removed, or discontinued at any time without prior notice. --- ## 15. No Professional Advice Shelfd is for entertainment, tracking, discovery, and social use only. Shelfd does not provide legal, financial, medical, professional, or official media advice. --- ## 16. Termination You may stop using Shelfd at any time by deleting your account from within the app. We may suspend, restrict, or delete your account or content if you violate these Terms, create risk, abuse the Service, harm other users, or if we are required to do so by law. --- ## 17. Limitation of Liability To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Shelfd and its creator are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, including lost data, lost access, lost profits, service interruptions, or third-party content problems. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability for consumers, gross negligence, willful misconduct, or personal injury. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited only to the extent permitted by law, and nothing in these Terms limits any non-waivable consumer rights. --- ## 18. Indemnification You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Shelfd and its creator from claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of Shelfd, your content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of another person's rights. --- ## 19. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state where Shelfd is operated, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Where you are a consumer resident in another country, you also benefit from the mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence. Any disputes will be resolved on an individual basis. Class actions, class arbitrations, and representative actions are not permitted to the extent allowed by law. --- ## 20. Apple-Specific Terms (iOS App) If you use Shelfd on an Apple device: - These Terms are between you and Shelfd, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Shelfd or its content. - Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Shelfd. - In the event of any failure of Shelfd to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) for the app. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to Shelfd. - Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to Shelfd, including product liability claims, claims that Shelfd fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection or similar legislation. - Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them against you. --- ## 21. Changes to These Terms We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are material, we will notify users through the app or website. Continuing to use Shelfd after changes means you accept the updated Terms. --- ## 22.
